My Freak Scene album, with poster! |
Pacifica is a duo formed by internet friends Inés Adam and Martina Nintzel in 2022 after a life changing trip to New York City where they got signed to LA label Tag Music. Based in Buenos Aires, the duo recently released their debut LP “Freak Scene”.
Inés (guitar) and Martina (bass) met because of their shared love of The Strokes. It's pretty obvious when you compare the two band's sites. They started on YouTube by posting covers every week, and then they began writing their own music. Because of all the covers, these two have a large body of work on YouTube that makes for great listening. I personally like to put their full list on shuffle and just listen to these two remarkable women do their thing. While their official videos are great, I also really enjoy the live performances in interesting locations. There's one video I really love where it looks like they are on a fire escape, and you can hear the sounds of the city in the background in a way that seems to add rather than detract from the music. They have videos shot in all kinds of locations: at the beach, on a train platform, in a bathtub, the list goes on. They are currently on tour, so they are mostly posting shorts, which I don't care for. Hoping maybe we'll get some more regular videos in the future. They remind me of Willie Nelson, in the fact that it doesn’t seem to matter much what they sing, it almost always sounds good. I even listen to the songs in Spanish. I have no idea what they are singing, but I love listening to them all the same. I think one of the things like most about them is that they just seem to be having fun doing something they really love.
